ZandaleeOkay, so what did they all think they were doing? Making a European-style arthouse movie for Hollywood, probably. This has the kind of intense ménage à trois that we're used to from Bergman and Trauffaut (here the participants are Cage, Reinhold and Anderson). Trouble is, this is only European-style in the sense that certain kinds of oven chips claim to be Southern-style. The three stars struggle gamely - and with ludicrous seriousness - to try to make something of Kornhauser's clumsy, self-involved dialogue, which strains for profundity in every syllable. You'll cheer with relief when Steve Buscemi wanders into a scene. But not for long.
