Sci-Fi and Fantasy at least in print, have long been the vehicle for social and political commentary. This movie is no different. One of the best films of this type made, it spans all aspects of a planetary turning point in history. As an entertaining film, it is absolutely adult themed and outstanding in all aspects of the craft of film-making. The few flaws in this epic are easily overlooked. This is a thinking persons film, an action film, a fantasy/sci-fi film, a mystery, love story, war movie, and drama all rolled into one seamlessly.
It doesn't get much better than this.
Whether you 'get' the film or not, this is a must-see.

damn i cant believe that most of you hate this awesome freaking movie. did you guys even watch watchmen? in my opinion, this is how superhero movies should be made, not like x-men,fantastic 4, iron man etc.. those movies are fucking garbage. i thought the first half of the movie was freaking insanely good, the narration rules. the second half was mostly action, still good not bad. in my opinion this is the greatest superhero movie ever made. 4 of 4 stars MASTERPIECE.

This film was absolute rubbish and did nothing but bring shame to the Watchmen. The comics were epic and I looked forward to this for ages only to be let down. The soundtrack was the only thing I actually enjoyed.

Three hours of super hero sex, blue penis, perhaps three noteworthy action scenes and maybe, if you stretch it, two scenes worthy of comedic note. I wasted money to see this rubbish in the cinema, and then, out of hope, tried to give it a second chance here only to find it was even worse than I first thought. Those who are saying how great it was are obviously easily pleased by special effects and girls in latex.

Also, how can you say they "did a great job portraying the characters" if you haven't read the comics? FACEPALM.

2/10, for special affects ONLY.

can't believe anyone thought this was gonna be your typical super hero flick, HUH?? haven't we had a billion of those already? I thought it was about time some director (Zack Snyder, 300, Dawn of the Dead remake) would finally make an adult serious film about a comic, not Tommy Lee Jones playing Two-Face and hopping around like the Joker, but a comic based movie were the characters actually ACT like the characters they are based off of, well this is the closest one I've seen besides Swamp Thing 9/10
