Wanted: Dead or AliveHauer is the ex-CIA freelance mercenary who goes on the warpath when he realizes he has been double-crossed during an assignment to bring in terrorist Simmons, dead or alive. Hauer is impeccable as the guy you'd want on your side, while Simmons hams it up, effortlessly amalgamating all terrorist clichés into one hyperactive manic performance. Director Sherman doesn't shy away from milking the routine set-up for all it's worth, taking pleasure in some of the more preposterous aspects of the plot. The result is wonderfully violent and quite mad. Underrated mayhem for those who like their films rough around the edges.
