Director Cameron Crowe (JERRY MAGUIRE, ALMOST FAMOUS) teams up with Tom Cruise once again in an adaptation of Alejandro Amenabar's 1997 Spanish film OPEN YOUR EYES. Cruise plays David Aames, a playboy publisher leading a seemingly charmed life. His most recent playmate is his "friend" Julie Gianni (Cameron Diaz), who cares for David more than he realizes. When David meets the fetching Sofia Serrano (Penelope Cruz) at his birthday party, he awakens to the possibility of what true love can feel like, leaving Julie distraught. However, after an accident that changes David's life, he is forced to rethink his choices. This psychological thriller becomes roller coaster ride of flashbacks as David tries to make sense of all that has happened, relaying some surreal experiences to a psychiatrist (Kurt Russell) after being charged with murder. The film's message may differ for each viewer, but it does make one bold point: every action has consequences. ...
Crowe gets exceptional performances from Cruise, Cruz, and Diaz and the alluring pop soundtrack features songs from REM, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, and Peter Gabriel. Amazingly, the scene of Cruise running through a completely empty Times Square was shot on location, a major feat in and of itself.

Huh?
Wow, what an odd film. If you are planning on watching this film on the strength of the trailer (as we did) then beware... the trailer is very, VERY misleading.
I can't say that I enjoyed this film but I did watch it all the way to the end... I had to, I wanted to know what was going on.
Odd film. Odd. Odd. Odd.
Vanilla Sky A stylish, thought-provoking drama that incorporates elements of romance, mystery and science fiction
Alejandro Amen??bar's 1999 Spanish film Open Your Eyes (aka Abre Los Ojos) was a stylish, ideas packed but flawed film that unravelled with its climactic exposition. Cameron Crowe's $70 million remake is similarly stylish, packed with (second-hand) ideas and flawed. But it also has an added problem, the presence of producer-star Tom Cruise.
Cruise stars as David Aames, a disgustingly rich, supremely smug, roundly arrogant ("I don't care if God calls - I'm very, very busy") 33-year-old head of a publishing company (which he inherited). He's got a swanky ...

this is a flawless and beautifully told story about love and regret. its a film that makes an impact in your life and is as good as ever when viewed a second or third time. probably the kind of film worth watching every few years to remind yourself of the importants of love and sometimes the letting go of those we love. and it also has my most favourite movie quote ever!!

3/3 for acting 3/3 for story 3/3 for entertainment and 0.5/1 for spark of genius.. overal 9.5/10
definitely one of the best movies ever..period. 10/10. great story, and true, because the little decisions we make really can change our life forever. decisions like taking a car ride can change everything in your life from that point on
it would be difficult for me to categorize this film, had a touch of many genres, keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time! have not seen vicky cristina barcelona but it would be tought to beat penelope cruz's performance here.
This movie is really good, tells a fascinating Story of maybe possibilities and waits with a twitch at the end. You can like tom Cruise or not most of his movies get a near 9 rating so watch this
Class movie! tis one of those films that if watched with an open mind will make you question your own reality, relationships etc. taught me alot through my teenage years and even now i find new things in this film
i didn't really like this movie. i know, call me strange.. but i thought it was trying too hard. i've watched it a few times, and found that, although i got it, i really didnt care.
Didn't appeal to me when it was first released. I can't say it was a bad movie, but if were not for the casting, I would never have watched it. 6/10 watch and decide for yourself.
