V.I. WarshawskiIn sharp contrast to all those high-kicking, leather-clad female supersleuths of the 60s and 70s, Warshawski (Turner) was conceived as a hardline feminist heroine for the PC era. But any chance this sister had of doing it for herself and of knocking Emma Peel from her pedestal was lost when her transfer to the big screen was badly botched. Her first case, involving an inheritance scam, wouldn't tax the intelligence of Charlie's Angels. Recently Turner has talked of forsaking screen acting for the stage because of the lack of good movie roles for fortysomethings. This debacle must have hastened that decision.
