How unfortunate, what started out as a great movie slowly unravels towards the last 3rd of the movie. Leaving you rolling your eyes in disbelief that such a masterpiece such as True Legend, could errode into such mundain forgettable pile of crap.

The whole movie, I felt like I was watching a cheaper version of Jet Li's movie, Fearless. Basically followed the same storyline. Main character falls from grace, goes through life changing battle, has epiphany during recovery, and then come back to protect nation's pride. Not only was the acting subpar, but clearly the graphics were crude, and one could easily tell some of the landscapes were computer generated, and that one hawk was like mechanical.

Oh, but the movie was badass. I don't usually find this much fault in a movie, hell, I loved Transformers 2, but look at all the Razzies it was nominated for. I just wish the storyline wasn't so damn similar. I gotta admit, the first 15 minutes were the most entertaining first 15 minutes of any movie I've seen, this guy looks so fresh, so clean when he's shaven. Despite all the faults, all is forgiven because the fights scenes are just crazy, though they don't even come close to Fearless, or any Jet Li movies from back in the day, Once Upon A Time In China series comes to mind..

I'm Taiwanese/Chinese, call it whatever, but in the end, the difference doesn't really matter that much. I have seen countless kung-fu movies, that most people don't get to see. Naturally, I can critique a kung-fu movie in a more detailed way. One of the things that bothered me a little, but had no effect on the movie, was the supposed "Drunken Fist" that he was fighting with. It seemed NOTHING like drunken fist. It just looked like how he was fighting before, only drunk, and noticeably weaker. Now the guy he met at the restaurant, THAT was drunken fist, that's what I was looking for. Anyone that's seen Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master", or one of Jet Li's back in the day movies, forget what it's called, knows what Drunken Fist should look like. Supposedly, it's a stance that allows you to not get hit, and attack in the same motion. That's not what he was doing.

As a MA fan, can't really wrap the mind around levitation as a special f/x. I agree with the opinion that that the story line & plot was a little disjointed. Overall, not the best MA film but it's still entertainment.
