A great but neglected western wih a pragmatic fighting style that ignores the niceties of the "code of the West". By 1904 the wild ways of the west were becoming a scandal not to be tolerated, and even more so in 1911 in "The Wild Bunch". Steve McQueen is looking rather worn and haggard, probably from too much booze, drugs, women and fast cars, and hadn't long ro live, but his looks suit the character. Slim Pickens, a consummate supporting actor with the same Texas drawl which he never changed even for "Dr Strangelove" is the least slim I have ever seen him, which also suits the part. The rest of the supporting cast all turn in very good performances Did Tom Horn do it? I doubt it, but if he did, it was IMHO by mistake. [SPOILER] (9/10)
