In September 1971, a platoon of recruits arrives in Ft. Polk, LA, for infantry training before leaving for war. The final week takes place in Tigerland, a swamp similar to Vietnam. Jim Paxton has enlisted; he wants to experience everything and write books later. He befriends Roland Bozz, a cool Texan with a gift for getting into trouble and for helping misfits get discharges. At least one sociopath in the platoon hates Bozz, even as the sergeants grudgingly recognize his leadership abilities. As the platoon heads into its week in Tigerland, Paxton's body gives out, Bozz makes plans to go AWOL... , and the sociopath gets hold of live ammo. Is the Louisiana swamp more dangerous than the DMZ?

Nonsense
Could not make the head or tail of this awful film or why it was made or what sort of lazy good-for-nothing director directed this pile of sh*t. One of the worst films I have ever seen - It's even worse than Fast and Furious. Even more annoyingly, the producers were obviously trying (not-hard-enough, mind u ) to cash in on the recent popularity of this genre without even making the least effort. Sh*t

The tough recruits strut coolly out at the end of the movie, presumably to land in Vietnam where they proceed to shoot each other and wet themselves. Now that would be worth watching.
Tigerland
Although based on the experiences of its scriptwriters, this seems second-hand goods, recycling characters and themes from better movies, and flawed by its pervasive sentimentality; the documentary-styled camerawork and attractive performances give it a l
Tigerland
It's hard to believe that the director of this spare, stripped-down character drama also made the overblown Batman and Robin, but Joel Schumacher is obviously revelling in going back to basics. He did it first with Flawless, about the relationship between a homophobe and a drag queen, and now with Tigerland, about infantry conscripts undergoing jungle combat training before being shipped out to Vietnam. Colin Farrell, before Steven Spielberg's Minority Report and blockbuster Daredevil catapulted him on to the A list, plays the charismatic lead, a disruptive dissenter who wants out of the army and who'll do anything to get his wish. Other relative unknowns play the recrui...
