cause he sure isnt picky about the roles he plays anymore, he acts like he's just there to get a paycheck. And I also agree with the comments that this movie is cheaply made and a rip off of the movie "The Thing" with James Arness and redone in the 70's with Kirt Russell. If this was supposed to be a movie with a social concience, it falls far short of it's mark.

From the get go I'll say don't expect dazzling CGI and monsters, no whiz-bang, no edge-of-your seat action.

But this is a good movie very well worth a watch.

It's all about suspense, and a mounting sense of dread and menace. I guess by today's standards Alfred Hitchcock's movies would get low ratings from our thrill-hungry and jaded audiences.

Also this movie has NOTHING to do with The Thing except that it takes place in the frozen North.

As far as tying the subject to global warming, well we know global warming is not going to bring us any kind of monsters. This movie is just a METAPHOR.

Global warming as depicted here is real enough. The ice-caps are melting as any person bothering to look at a scientific magazine would know. Multinationals are now looking at alternate shipping lanes shortcutting near the poles, and the famed North-West passage is now opening to traffic. This is a fact, and the movie only reflects these facts. However I will concede that this line from the movie is a bit of a stretch: [SPOILER] Really I had to laugh at that one and remind myself it was only a metaphor. . .

Still I thought this was a pretty good movie worth watching again sometime because of the growing tension and suspense. Ending was classic but all right.

i am a big fan of val kilmer from the days of ghost and the darkness..so i guess my expectations were high..well sad to say i am pretty disappointed..the storyline was average but the the execution was pathetic..i watched 3/4th of the movie (since i was utterly bored) then decided tv was a much better option..but above all the girl who plays his daughter in the movie needs a urgent crash course in acting..after a long time i watched such a pathetic excuse of horror movie..sad but 3/10..

Why put all of humanity in jeopardy by infecting yourself, and then purposely try to infect everyone else on the planet. No matter how bad people are I would never want to kill them off to save the planet, we need to find and equilibrium or a balance with it, like all the other lifeforms!
