The Prince of TidesFor someone rumoured to be such a control freak, it is surprising Streisand has not had more stabs at directing. Surprising, but not a bad thing. After attempting to pass as a teenage boy in her debut, she now expects us to accept her as a humane psychiatrist who attempts to help her patients by sleeping with them. Nolte plays the lucky feller, a broken man trying to come to terms with his past and help his suicidal sister. He is great, but he's done the angst thing so many times before, and he deserves better than this self-indulgent, soap opera nonsense.
