Funny and uplifting in parts, gut-wrenching in others.

I read that this was based on the Director, Lori Petty's real life as a teenager

If that's the case, I hope some of the story was embellished.

What a dismal existence to live as a young woman.

The actresses who portrayed the little girls did a good job. Not a great job but good enough to where I wanted to call child services for them.

I've heard various opinions about The Poker House.As for me, the film is a bit too predictable, it is dragging on for 90 min. with no outcome at the end. Tyla Abercrumbie, Sophia Bairley, Joey Bicicchi are absolutely common and Lori Petty, the director of the movie, had no luck with the previous film as well.
