The Picture of Dorian GrayFantasy drama from the novel by Wilde, beautifully photographed by Standling. Egged on by his friend Lord Wotton (Sanders), vain Victorian gentleman Gray (Hatfield) commissions artist Hallward (Gilmore) to paint his portrait. On admiring the finished article, Gray makes a demonic pact to stay eternally young. As the years pass, all those around him age but he seems to get younger while the painting, now locked away in the attic, grows hideous with decay and sin. Made in black and white, the film bursts into glorious Technicolor whenever the portrait is shown in close-up.
