i don't care what anyone says, i love terry gilliam. there were a couple of shots that really gave me 'brazil' flashbacks. very nice casting except the little girl kinda got on my nerves

Ok, let's get this straight. This movie was not meant to be a masterpiece, a final farewell from Heath. When they started filming, they had no idea it was going to be his last film, so all the hype about a mysterious last movie from Heath is misleading, as it is just another eccentric movie by Terry Gilliam.

This movie started out VERY VERY VERY slow. People gave up soon enough, but I ventured farther to see what would happen. Took about an hour for things to start to get interesting, which is far too long even just to set the story and background in place.

But after that, the next 30-35 minutes were some of the most fun I've had watching and exploring the boundaries of imagination, truly, if anywhere, this is where the movies shines like no other movie can. Terry Gilliam, surely, is not the conventional director, which makes him all that much more special, and I say again, eccentrically entertaining. However, the final 10, 15 minutes of the movie was very anti climatic, nothing that made any ties with the story. But then again, what was the story?

Despite the movie's many shortcomings, I haven't deemed it a waste of my time, and the meat of the movie is what made it worthwhile. Though I wanted more, I expected that this would just be another movie, too bad. Dark Knight will forever be etched in my mind as one of the single greatest performances on screen forever, pity for those to see this movie to leave a bitter taste in their mouths about Heath.

Anyways, the movie made little sense, the visuals were top-notch, subpar acting from costars besides Tom Waits the Tony's, and a not so attractive Lily Cole (Valentina, she looks like a freaking porcelain doll, with too big of eyes for her head), led to a 3/5. Not something I'd watch normally, but have time to kill, and some curiosity in you, then yeah, sure, test this movie, see how YOU feel about it.

I'm a huge fan of Terry Gilliam's work, and I think you need to be also to fully enjoy this movie. I loved the cast, but was dissapointed that Jonathan Pryce didn't star in it. I found the first hour of this could benefit from some cutting/editing. Shame I missed it in the cinema's, one for the DVD collection perhaps? 8.5/10.

A parable within a fable that has the feel of a fairy tale.

Not for everybody's taste but if your a long time fan of Terrys work, you'll enjoy this ride as well.

Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law gave all the income they received for this movie to Heath Ledger's daughter Matilda so that her economic future would be secure.

There's a part in the movie where Depp takes over Ledgers character after stepping through the "looking glass" and explains to a lady about the famous people who died, that they never have to grow old and will be forever immortalized. That was eerie and gave the story a very dark tone given the death of Heath ledger during production.

This was Excellent! Terry Gilliam takes the viewer on a Magic Carpet Ride.. Terry Gilliam always makes some weird, trippy, out there type of movies and this is no different.. This was very entertaining but had a sense of sadness surrounding it (Given the circumstances during the filming it's not surprising). I thought they did a nice job filling the vacancy left by Heath Ledger.. [SPOILER] .. This is a Awesome movie.. 4.5/5..

this is a very strange movie and at some points it could be described as trippy. there is a storyline but the focus is mostly on the visual aspect of the movie. one character is played by 3 different actors. worth a watch 7/10
