Gary won the top award for acting in this movie because at that time in his life he was good and because he had a great man's talanted life to play act in this movie..Buddy Holly was really one of a kind and Gary did a good job of bring him back to life, if even for 2 hours on the big screen..I enjoy seeing it everytime I watch it, as I bought my own copy years ago..
