The Big StealFramed for the theft of the $300,000 army payroll, escaped GI Mitchum is determined to prove his innocence and bring Knowles, the guilty party, to justice. Pursuing the culprit to Mexico and being hunted in turn by Bendix, Mitchum falls in love with Greer. Sparkling dialogues, fast-paced chases and the occasional twist make this an at first somewhat confusing but ultimately hugely entertaining film. The whole thing is cleverly realized by Invasion of the Body Snatchers director Siegel and scripted by Daniel Mainwaring, who was also responsible for the Mitchum/Greer classic Out of the Past.
