Keanu does his tree impression again
This has the makings of a good, girly tear-jerker: odd-couple romance, terminal illness, gay best friend, kooky San Francisco lifestyles. Sadly the casting of cute-but-clueless Keanu means that any emotional thrust this film could have is completely lost. (Matt Damon would have been good in this role). Charlize Theron does her best but you try acting opposite a sideboard - not easy. An OK film to iron to but don't bother if you're looking for chick-flick bliss with weeping - rent Stepmom instead.
