Steve Addington, long-boarding, herb-totting, soul-surfer, returns to Malibu for the summer to find his hometown vibe corrupted. New sponsorship demands the surfer expand into Virtual-Reality Video Games and Reality TV. Unwilling to participate in this new digital-reality, Addington chooses to stay earthen and analog, surfing majestic So-Cal waves. But in a biblical twist-of-fate, the waves go flat and stay flat. Out of money, his sponsored expense-accounts canceled, betrayed by his buddies, the waveless Addington is backed into a harsh corner. He must endure the insanity of... the wave drought or give into the Man and his reality-altering machines and pre-packaged amusements. Aided and abetted by his manager (Woody Harrelson), his mentor (Scott Glenn), his guardian-angel (Willie Nelson) and his summer lover, (Alexie Gilmore), Addington (Matthew McConaughey) has a high-quality chance of keeping his cool, maintaining his mellow and bringing harmony to his fractured and waveless world.

Perhaps it's his attempt at baring his soul for the apparent labor of love and Sex Wax, Surfer, Dude. Yeah, there's a comma in there, presumably to imply something deeper than the disjointed mess it actually is.
For his production company's first jaunt, McConaughey has gathered friends including Willie Nelson and Woody Harrelson, a regular stoners' all-star team, to tell the tall tale of a super-mellow surfer dude (no comma) who refuses to take part in the corporate game. Literally. He turns down a virtual surfing simulator and a reality show that are somehow connected. Oh, no, he'd much ra...
Surfer, Dude Fed up of being bullied, a trio of geeky teenagers hire a low-rent bodyguard to help them survive the difficult world of high school. A teen comedy from the producer of Knocked Up and Superbad
The trouble with a winning formula is that sooner or later, it's not going to work. Producer Judd Apatow has been refining his particular brand of crude yet emotionally true comedy ever since his TV work on 'Freaks And Geeks', and it's paid off magnificently with films like The 40 Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up.
Even in the Apatow-produced Superbad, which cranked the vulgarity up to breathtaking levels, the mixture of full-on comedy and genuine sweetness succeeded brilliantly - ...

I expected it to be pretty good with this cast, but it just wasn't. Very few funny moments and overall a very boring storyline. Wouldn't watch it again, or recommend it. 2/5 at best.
There is no such thing as a bad Matthew McConaughey movie in my world; especially when he spends 99% of the movie shirtless. If you're a surfer or you just think Matt is eye candy, I think you'll enjoy this movie. I don't surf and I don't watch reality TV, but I'd watch this movie again. Woody Harrelson and Matt make a great stoner, surfer team. Amusing movie..
This movie had a lot of potential but just didn't live up to expectations.. It's a pretty good movie if your in the right frame of mind but there just wasn't enough Comedy in it for me.. Surfer, Dude is a party movie but dumbed down. It's got a good vibe and some cool tunes but something seemed to be missing.. 3/5..
I just stopped it half way, cause nothing happens. I love Matthew, surfing etc..but this?? nonsense movie, he just smokes weed all the way and they show nice asses thats all.
Starring Mathew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Willie Nelson. (Mathew) a surfer living his dream gets caught up in a battle between money, romance, reality, and fame. Struggling to do what he thinks is right, he will overcome any obsticle that comes his way. A must see for any surf lover or anyone just trying to live their dream. 8.5/10 stars. (The true Tizle review)
I'm not a "stoner" nor do I like surfing really but this movie is sweet. It gives a message that you should do what you love and forget the rest which is one of the things I live by. This guy is a free spirit with his only one passion, surfing, which is the only thing he wants to do. I think we can all learn alot from Add or anyone like him. One of my new faves no doubt. If you liked McConaughey in Dazed and confused you'll like him in this.
thank god i didnt listen to all negativ cmments..trust ur instinct..pretty kool surfer movie..laid back ,let loose kind of jive..*cough* nice joint..whetwew..
the film had so much potential, with some great acters, and yet they manage to pull off this s** film. The story is thin and you don't get many answears to what you see. it was a 3/5 stars from me, but only because of the weed and the actors. and i thougt this film was gonna be a real hit.. ..disappointed!!
I loved it such a great chill movie.. Matt Woody and Willy in one movie great lol.. So many bad reviews of this one its a shame.. There was a story to it and had lots of sexy women in it.. 4/5
