Step Up

For a movie about dancing, Step Up is pretty clumsy on its feet.

That has nothing to do with the film's musical numbers, mind you. Step Up's blend of ballet and hip-hop is top-notch, and it's more graceful than recent teen dance flicks such as Save the Last Dance and You Got Served.

The problem is in the scenes not accompanied by a thumping bass beat. Director Anne Fletcher, a longtime choreographer making her directing debut, has found young stars who appear to know their way around a dance floor but not a sound stage.

It's been 19 years since adolescent girls around the world swooned at the sight of a musclebound Patrick Swayze lifting the lissome Jennifer Grey over his head before letting her plunge into a mosquito-infested pond in the Catskills.

Happily for 13-year-old girls everywhere, Step Up has arrived, breathing somewhat stale air into an age-old story: Girl from the right side of the tracks meets boy from wrong side, and a love of risque dance steps and tight clothing brings them together.

While predictability and occasionally wooden dialogue keep this from being a truly good movie, it's certainly entertaining enough to please its intended audience,...

Well I am not a fan of dancing really but after watching She's the man and seeing Channing Tatum in it (HOT)I decided to go along wit my frend and see this film. Well........I hav 2 say this is one of the best films I have eva seen, the music is very good and works well with the story line. The 2 main characters have such great chemistry, both of them being very attractive. The dancing is skillful, and i think that some of the quotes which show meaning in this film are shown very well. Recommend 100% and i will certainly be getting the DVD!!
