Here's a gooey, hilarious, creepy horror film for the whole mutant, cannibal family. Michael Rooker (HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER) stars as Grant, a big bald guy from a small southern town who gets possessed by a meat-hungry parasite-worm creature from space. Even under the alien influence he still loves his wife, Starla (Elizabeth Banks), but she's alarmed at his weird new habits, such as consuming all the local wildlife. The sheriff in town (Nathan Fillion) investigates. He still carries a torch for Starla from when they were kids, but once the squirming, slithering, and cannibalism be... gin in earnest, it becomes clear that this is no time for romance. SLITHER's combination of interesting characters, deadpan humour, gore aplenty, and genuine scares, earns it a place alongside cult classics like RE-ANIMATOR and the various LIVING DEAD and EVIL DEAD films. Director/writer James Gunn wrote 2004's DAWN OF THE DEAD before SLITHER and it's abundantly clear where his loyalties lie: SLITHER aims its acid-dripping, brain-sucking tongue right into the hearts of horror fans. Heads explode, monsters squiggle into gaping mouths, tentacles wrap around Banks's negligee-clad body, and the sheriff takes it all in his stride. There's even a twisted intergalactic love story somewhere in the chaos, as well as hordes of in-jokes for the fans.

'The Blob' with intelligence
When I first saw the DVD cover it grabbed my attention and made me read the synopsis. 'It's got ptential' I thought. I only hoped it wouldn't disappoint. It didn't. It's sickly funny with some cracking special effects. I really can't understand why this film has been slated so much, there's much worse out there (anything Chad Goymer from Kent likes is well worth avoiding (clueless work colleague)). Give it a go, it's gory, it's funny and you may just like it.
You have to be very careful paying too much attention to them as you may just miss that perfect movie. In this case though please read and be aware. I dont walk out of many movies.
I have watched hundreds of gory films, action films etc and very few make me so bored that I literally walk out of the cinema.
I understand that is an attempt at a B movie. In theory it succeeds as it is B grade. I was expecting more pace, action, over the top effects and humour.
All I got was the type of average film made about 15 years ago - nothing like Evil Dead II, more like a Tremors 2. I can't understand how people could enjoy this dul...
Slither is a gleefully nasty and ingeniously twisted horror-comedy that pits a populace of heavily armed but mostly clueless rednecks against flesh-eating zombies, slimy extraterrestrial slugs and an acid-spewing, multitentacled mutant. Call it Night of the Living Dead meets Tremors. Scripter James Gunn infuses the pic, his debut feature as a director, with the exuberance of a movie geek given carte blanche to play fast and loose with the cliches and conventions of his favorite films. Result is a rock-the-house crowd-pleaser for genre aficionados, though its breakout potential appears iffy.
