	Storyline:	Manny is the "boss" of the convicts in an Alaskan high security prison. POOR FILM
I loved Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance, immediately I began to scour his other titles and this was one I picked out. I have to say I was disappointed, not only was it slightly dated but the adrenaline pumping thrills that I experienced watching something like `Speed` were missing, Voight is electric however but even he can't save this sinking ship...or should I say Runaway Train!

Jon Voight is a hard-as-nails lifer who escapes prison only to find himself trapped on a runaway train boring its way through Alaska. Oscar nominated action film adapted from an abandoned screenplay by Akira Kurosawa
After a couple of years in the wilderness Voight returned to form in 1985 with this fast and fierce action adventure. Cast against type, he exhibits a sort of primal mania that elevates Akira Kurosawa's rather daft premise into a heroic hymn to freedom.

This is a fast-paced thriller based on a screenplay co-written by celebrated Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. And that's what takes it a notch above the average Hollywood action film, as escaping convicts Jon Voight and Eric Roberts have far more depth than your typical gung-ho hero. Both landed Oscar nominations, as did Henry Richardson, whose dynamic editing gives Andrei Konchalovsky's superior direction the breakneck pace that will keep you on the edge of your seat. John P Ryan as a sadistic warden and Rebecca De Mornay as a trapped passenger also rise to the occasion.
