With quotes from major figureheads like Thomas Jefferson, George W. Bush and Osama Bin Laden, Bill Maher, with a Jewish-Catholic background, sets out to prove that having faith and seeking directions from God is basically ridiculous and may be due to a neurotic disorder. Interviewing Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, scientists, gays, and atheists, he cites that the number of non-believers is increasing in North America. He attempts to prove his point by citing inconsistencies in the Bible, the controversial birth of Lord Jesus, the inability of religious heads to account for His... absence for over 18 years, as well as the absence of any concrete evidence that disproves the theory of evolution.

Religulous (which rhymes with "ridiculous") is not for the devout. But those with a taste for irreverent humor and clear-eyed analysis will find it funny, enlightening and disturbing.
Comedian/satirist Bill Maher's documentary about religious fundamentalism is often hilarious. He makes little effort to be even-handed, although he does speak to an exceptionally jovial Vatican-based priest who comes across as more rational and open-minded than most of the staunch adherents who are interviewed.
Mostly, Maher skewers religious extremists of almost all major faiths.

Religulous
I don't find religion 'religulous,' but I did find myself chuckling and hooting throughout much of this documentary. The film was never dull. It irked me a bit that Maher spends over two-thirds of the film debunking Christianity when there are other world religions that could be the butt of his satire. In my view, he (like so many others) has Christianity in his sights throughout the bulk of the film for a number of reasons. First off, mocking zealous 'Bible Belt' American evangelical Christians isn't exactly much of a hurdle; they make themselves easy pickings. Second, Christians are supposed to turn the other cheek and if they don't do that, as Maher himsel...

again, i dont really like Bill Maher either but you can't deny the points he has put across need to be accepted or at least aknowledged! people can be so stubborn, but i guess to them it is "faithfull". people like to think religion will keep us together in the world but the irony is it will eventually tear us apart.
it's awesome how it takes the fight out of the scientific territory and gives it in to simple reasoning and laughter, there were some insanely funny moments.
i think the ending argument should've kept the same note - although it made some interesting points, i'm not sure it really was anywhere near as compelling as they would've wanted it to be.
Jeez, that Maher is hilarious and just as others have surmised ways to benefit from the fabric, the unseen filament that holds this "ball" together so did Bill; The 'doc' indeed is funny but so to are the reasons "why" one denies a Higher Power. I've seen the long winding comments and thought, {?I'd never tarry on as such.} Well. Religion is liken to a pearl that has been removed from its place of origin, bored and worn loosely for all to see.. Dymonz~
I loved this documentary. Thank you bill. I live in the lovely state of alabama. The so called christians here are rude, preachy, they judge you before they get to know you. Facts are facts. Many of the questions he ask, I ask people here. How do u know he existed? Some of the chapters in the bible are missing. To me, a church is a business. Its a place to take your money and tell you what to do. Also, christians are the most miserable people. I have a friend who is baptist and his parents have sheltered him in religion all his life. He is now 35 years old and think a woman is the devil. what kind of sick crap is that. If this god is so great, then why are people born retarded, autistic, murderers, and if u don't do what he says u go to hell. oo, lets scare people to church. This world be be so much better without religion. thank u again bill. I now see these people didn't have the answers either.
I found this documentary funny, and just informative. I don't need to watch a documentary to know what other cultures think of others, cause I would assume we already know. This has been going on for many years, and I didn't particularly like Bill Maher. Nothing exceptionally new information right here..just mockery!
