Prince of Egypt, TheThis lavish biblical epic from Spielberg's production company Dreamworks SKG emerged as the only serious rival to challenge Disney's stranglehold on the animated feature film market. The film basically covers the same territory as The Ten Commandments in charting the life of Moses up to his leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land. The angular animation and muted colour palette gives the film a look more redolent of classic European cartoons than their homelier American counterparts. All that really mars the production is the obligatory inclusion of some sappy musical numbers. |
