Listen to the last guy. this movie is a classic. obviously if you dont like watching old movies,then this may not be in your liking. but the story holds up very well against most modern scifi tales. 10/10. charlton heston rip

One of the best Sci-Fi movies ever IMO! It is a testament to the late Charlton Heston's sheer screen presence and acting. The ending to this movie blows your mind and is still powerful today as it was over forty years ago! I also agree with a comment here that you should read the novel that the movie was based on, it's even more mind blowing!

This is a real classic of the science fiction genre and probably the only film of this genre i truely enjoyed. There isnt really any other film you can compare this too as it is such an original story. Everything in the film was done to perfection, especially the special effects make up on the apes. Even though the film is over 40 years old the effects dont look dated at all. I loved the way the film was shot, especially in the first 30 or 40 minutes. The director really took advantage of the scenery in order to show the isolation and desolate planet. The only bad point i had with it was the over the top acting, especially from Charlton Heston. It became quite comical at times but i suppose you can let him off with the classic films he has done in the past. This is much more deeper than just science fiction, it puts the humans at the bottom of the food chain and shows the viewer what it would really be like to be humiliated like animals. This is a really iconic film and most of it will seem very familiar to any first time viewer, mainly because most scenes and espicially the end have been parodied so much. I really enjoyed this film, not one of my favourites but would definitely watch again. 4/5
