Set in the New York club scene of the late 1980's thru the 1990's, a tale which chronicles the rise and fall of club-kid promoter Michael Alig, a party organizer, whose extravagant life was sent spiralling downward when he boasted on television that he had killed his friend, roommate, and drug dealer, Angel Melendez. Originally from Indiana, Alig moved to New York, and came to be an underground legend, known for his excessive drug use and outrageous behavior in the club world. At his peak, he had his own record label, and magazine, and hosted Disco 2000, one of the biggest club nights in New ... York in the '90s. He was doing a lot of drugs, and as his addiction got worse, his party themes became darker and more twisted. Alig's saga reached its tragic crescendo when he viciously murdered his drug dealer, Angel, by injecting him with Drano and throwing him in the East River. The power he wielded on the club scene made him feel untouchable, so he didn't hestitate to boast of the murder. The press thought it was a publicity stunt--until Angel's body washed ashore.

I did actually physically cringe at both the acting and the lines in this film. In fact there is no getting away from it, it was dreadful. Culkin certainly wasnt right for the part and looked as uncomfortable as I felt watching him. Supposedly based on the docu-book I found the story to be disjointed and committed the heinous crime of fast forwarding at times. I didnt really find it that shocking as it was done in such pantomime fashion. Regretted seeing it due to curiosity and I should have remembered what that did to the cat.

Party Monster is plain shocking to a lot of people. What with having Macaulay Caulkin and Seth Green playing, gender-confused, drug-popping party-goers for one.
The story seems wacky, outrageous and all over the place, and guess what? It's based on a true story, and real-life doesn't abide by Hollywood's formulaic rules.
I'd an appreciation for the bizarre is required to enjoy this cult movie.
slow at the start but it was so funny how pathetic some of the characters got from drug use, it makes drug use look so pathetic n it was funny to see, althought cinematography was poor and the acting was crap they pulled it off with the concept/script/situational humor loved it. 9.5/10
