The best of Todd Solondz
Firstly, I'd never recommend any of Solondz' films unless I knew that person well. All his work delves into the ultimate taboo of child abuse and underage sex. The genius part is that there's nothing graphic to see but the insinuations are more than enough. If your looking for justice in this film, you won't find it so don't rent it.
For those that are familiar with Welcome to The Dollhouse and Happiness, I believe that this is Solondz' best work yet. He again takes you on a tour of Cringe City but the storyline and gob-smacking ending are far smarter, thought provoking and left me breathless. This film, like any other, isn't for everyone. It deals with some shady issues that a lot of viewers don't like. Overall, this is an Anti-Hollywood movie, intelligent directing, a sharp script and an 'Up Yours' to a happy ending. Smashing! |
