Paint Your WagonA film famous for confirming the fact that Eastwood can't sing, but his grating tones should not put anyone off, for there is plenty to enjoy here. It is the Californian goldrush, and an uneasy pact is formed between a Michigan farmer and a wizened prospector. A series of misadventures develops, culminating in the pair sharing a wife, Mormon style, and turning their mining camp into a boomtown. Chuck in those old west habits of drinking, gambling, whoring and singing, and the three 'serious' leads acting against type, and you get a hugely entertaining caper. |
