The film is the story of an undercover agent who, after failing to protect an important government scientist, learns the man's family is in danger. In an effort to redeem himself, he agrees to take care of the man's children only to discover that child care is his toughest mission yet.
His best yet
Now normally I hate Vin Diesel movies. His one-liners in films such as XXX etc. are truely awful. Having said this I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this on a flight back from Boston and thought it was excellent. Very funny!

I saw this at the cinema with my 6-yr-old son who REALLY enjoyed it. I have to say that I found it quite watchable too.
It's silly and predictable, but aren't kids films supposed to be? Nice characters and good performances all round, with the occasional surprise to keep you going.
I would recommend it as a good rainy day film for all the family to watch together. Especially good for 6-yr olds!
Even two years ago, could Vin Diesel have imagined starring in a movie that would require his macho self to dive head-first into a kiddy playpen filled with colored plastic balls and emerge triumphantly with a soiled diaper in hand? Yet such is the tenor of the humor in The Pacifier, a truly gag-worthy comedy designed to open up new horizons for the flagging action hero by having him baby-sit a family of obnoxious brats. After Pitch Black, The Fast And The Furious and xXx, it seemed Vin Diesel could do no wrong. Of course, that was before The Chronicles Of Riddick came along to blot his Hollywood copybook and suggest audiences were tiring of his mean and moody persona. Clearly a change of direction was called for, and the result is The Pacifier, a family-friendly caper that sees Diesel undercutting his macho image as an undercover babysitter. Unfortunately, in the hands of Bringing Down The House director Adam Shankman, this charm offensive is more offensive than charming.
When we meet Shane Wolfe (Diesel), he's a tough-as-nails, no-nonsense commando masterminding a daring rescu...
