A classic based on a real historical figure and episode from pre-independence days when the British and Americans were united and fighting against the French and their indian allies. There are many sequences that will stick in your memory as they have in mine over many years. Note a young Richard Attenborough, who will be known by some only in connection with Jurassic Park, in a small part as a British ranger who loses his mind and rushes off "home" into the wilderness. Elsewhere, I have sometimes found Spencer Tracy rather hammy, but certainly not here. Unforrtunately there is buffering trouble in the last quarter of the footage, but you may be luckier. (10/10)
