Norbit is a normal person, who after being adopted by Mr. Wong, ends up being married to the very large, Rasputia. Norbit's childhood love, Kate Thomas arrives back in town to buy the orphanage. Norbit sees this as his chance to get back together with Kate, until he discovers that she is in fact engaged to Deion Hughes. Norbit isn't going to lay this to rest, whilst he tries to survive life with Rasputia, and it looks like Deion also has something he would like to keep secret.
Eddie Murphy once again taps into his inner Jerry Lewis -- and his idea of a big, fat, overbearing wife -- in Norbit, playing a meek hubby and his hopelessly domineering 500-pound-plus wife. Murphy continues his ongoing gambit for playing multiple characters in various shapes, sizes and races, but his story (conceived with brother Charles) lacks even the basic form that held most of The Nutty Professor together. Thesp's fans will flock to this low-ball item that arrives just as he's in the Oscar spotlight -- a coincidence that will only boost early February B.O.

Worst film of the year
Oh, Eddie. Oh, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. What have you done? What were you thinking? Were you even thinking at all? After seeing this crap, all I wanted to do was get hold of Eddie Murphy and sit him down and show him some of his old films you know, films like 48 Hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop and Coming To America. Just to remind him that he was once a very funny man. Because now it seems that the only time Eddie Murphy is funny on screen is when he's being an ass.
Norbit is just a mess of a movie. It's nasty, misogynistic, racist, cruel and just not funny. I think I laughed just once through the whole film, and that was at a talking dog (talking dogs are always f...
Ridiculous... But Funny !
Saw this after a particularly grim day at work and thought nothing would bring me round... this did !! Ok it is daft, it is slapstick and it is patently ridiculous in the extreme... but it is also funny, in fact very funny in parts.
There are a few verbal jokes that are very close to the edge for a 12A rated film, if your kids laugh, you know they know too much !!!
I can see that the voice and some of the slapstick might be groaners for some viewers of this, and is it worth a 4 star, well it perked me up, and I definately would rate it as one for the rental list - go on, you know you want to !

Kate Williams"..My prayers have been answered, its raining little white bitches!" Eddie Griffins "..Better move coz i prayed for cadillacs!" ha ha ha! [SPOILER]
Could not stop my self laughing through out the movie. Am amazed how prefectly Eddie Murphy do different roles so conveniently. hats off to him, the greatest comedian of our time. bravo bravo. 110 percent must watch this movie if you are feeling depress, a laughing medicine. 10/10
I had heard from quite a few people that this movie was hilarious and after reading the comments I was sure I was gonna get a laugh riot when I watched this but to be honest there were only a few funny parts.. This isn't Eddie Murphy's best work but if you like Eddie Murphy then you might like it.. 2.5/5..
omg ..this was flat out hilarious, i loved it .. i spent three years refusing to watch this movie thinking that it would be lame but im glad i finally did..amazing!!
rEALLY FUNNY. I have seen comments especially on IMBD that it has a bad reflection on obese people. Not at all the tones are subtle and great comedy. And this a great representation of Eddie Morphy's talents for him to play 3 characters and not know it is him !!
