After various skirmishes, two wounded soldiers, one Bosnian and one Serb, confront each other in a trench in the no man's land between their lines. They wait for dark, trading insults and even finding some common ground; sometimes one has the gun, sometimes the other, sometimes both. Things get complicated when another wounded Bosnian comes to, but can't move because a bouncing mine is beneath him. The two men cooperate to wave white flags, their lines call the UN (whose high command tries not to help), an English reporter shows up, a French sergeant shows courage, and the three men in no man... 's land may or may not find a way to all get along.

No Man's Land
A very good film, which I found it hard to categorise. At first, I thought the film would develop along familiar lines i.e. enemies forced together eventually discover a mutual respect and understanding, and finally reject their violent past etc... However, it doesn't work out like that - that would be too neat and tidy. I don't want to spoil the ending, but no one comes out of this film well, with maybe one or two exceptions. Ultimately, the film is a devastating & honest examination of the Serbia-Bosnia war - there's no happy ending or any redeeming acts at the end to restore your faith in humanity - which just makes the film even more powerful. I gave up simple because i waited for subtitles that never came. you either have to be a linguist or dedicated to watch this can you give less than 0 / 5
how can it have 5 different languages with no sub-titles? this one you can skip. I sped it up at times, hopeing something was going to happen, basically nothing happens after opening scene.
A terrific political satire that stays true to the spirit of the tragedies in the former Yugoslavia..The take home message is an important one in that war is an awful reality and that even those who purport peace (U.N. and U.S.) share blame..I was happy to see that punches were not pulled in illuminating the horrors of the Balkans while not being pretentious or aggressive..The humor was well done as was the touching elements..More Americans should see films like these
an excellent view how war destroyed humanity, moral and hope in human being. All you who judge this movie and are not from former Yugoslavia, you don't know what are you talking about. And you are lucky, sitting in your rooms, watching TV or movies and judging a destiny of not one, but all three nations caught in the storm of the war where the truth died immediately after first shot was taken. This is not just a war movie, this is a story about people who had everything and at the end left with nothing, not even with their lives.
