It seems the world at large chose to ignore these brutalities as they were occuring. Reminds me of other, more recent genocides various govts ignored (e.g. Rwanda). People can be so cruel to each other! I'm sure Hitler learned something useful from these atrocities, namely that he could get away with killing large groups of innocent people in very cruel ways. If you liked this documentary, please look up the books written on this subject and read them. If you do more research, you will find that the Japanese govt is still denying these atrocities and saying that these horribly cruel acts only occurred on a small scale..

I actually cried a bit while watching this documentary. I couldn't imagine what those people went through, and I still don't understand why the Japanese government can't say sorry.
