My Favorite BrunetteOne of Hope's most enjoyable and original comedies, this does for the hard-boiled detective genre what his Paleface was to do for the western the following year. Hope is cast as a portrait photographer (specializing in babies) who is mistaken for the private eye in the next door office. Enter his ace co-star Lamour as a femme fatale in trouble and the gentle parody is off and running. A splendid support cast includes Lorre and La Rue and best of all Alan Ladd as a genuine detective in a cameo appearance. And Bing turns up for good measure just before the end credits.
