My Father the HeroDepardieu stars in the remake of Mon Pére, ce Héros, as the father taking his teenage daughter Heigl on holiday, only for her to be too embarrassed to turn up with her dad in tow. She promptly decides to pretend that he is her sophisticated French lover. Depardieu starts wondering about all the odd looks he is getting, especially from the young boy Heigl has her eyes on. Somehow the incestuous angle plays better in French, and while this is a lavishly produced and often charmingly performed film, it all rings hollow in the end.
