You decide that you are going to make an animated family film version of a story that is the foundation of one of the greatest world religions! Now, how do you go about that?! Very carefully. What these film makers have done is nothing short of a miracle in itself. They have produced a creative and sensitive piece. Yes, there is quite a lot of material skimmed over but nothing can distract from the excellent animation and the final scenes of the inevitable crucifixtion( which is cleverly toned down eithout losing its power ) and resurrection.
