McLintock!Things aren't too rosy in the McLintock household. Cattle baron George Washington McLintock (Wayne) is feuding with land grabbers, when his feisty, estranged wife (O'Hara) returns demanding a divorce. Their daughter (Powers) is back from college with notions of a modern woman's independence, so she does not help matters. Of course, the Duke isn't going to stand for any nonsense, particularly from any woman. Despite the allusions to The Taming of the Shrew, this bawdy comedy never takes itself too seriously. Its sexism sticks in the craw a little, but its silliness makes it easy to dismiss.
