Marked for DeathThe wife (Ullman) of a womanizing pizzeria owner (Kline) discovers his unfaithful ways, and, egged on by her mother (Plowright) and a lovestruck busboy (Phoenix), she decides to murder him. This is easier said than done, however, and she turns to a couple of bumbling reprobates (Hurt and Reeves) to come in and finish the job. Apparently based on a true story, it's served up by Kasdan as a lukewarm black comedy. The script is uneven, reflected in the performances from the sterling cast;;where Plowright's funny, Reeves is dumb, where Kline is reliable, Phoenix is wet. A mess. |
