I like Kirsten Dunst, but she's too girlish for a femme like Marie Antoinette. If you look at the pictures of the real Marie Antoinette, she's much and I mean much bigger. Couldn't they at least made Dunst look a bit fuller figured? Would have been more realistic. Another comment: What's the deal with the music? How wrong can it be! Yes I get it: they try to put the story into a new jacket. I'm a big music fan and I love these songs, but it's French history and not some Drew Barrymore movie! New Order and Marie Antoinette; I never thought those two ever would combined together!! So Wrong..so wrong..

good movie but the whole time i was waiting ofr the grand and tragic ending (her decapitation)and it didn t happen.movie would have been better with a bloody ending

the set decor, costumes and scenery were gorgeous in this film. the attention to period detail was perfect.

the movie itself was a little lacking, but it was lovely and even funny at times. didn't enjoy the end so much but bravo Sofia!

This was a very interesting portrayal of her. I enjoyed this movie immensely for it's beauty, acting and music. I don't think it could have been done any better with what it was trying to convey. Marvelous & timeless picture! I could watch it again and again.

Guys, Sophia Coppola deliberately used post-punk music throughout the movie, it clashed perfectly with the setting and candy-coated costuming of the film, but also revealed the vulnerability and youth in Marie Antoinette. The music couldn't have been better chosen!! The point of the film was to showcase her as a teenage girl thrust into royalty and later crucified for acting like a teenage girl thrust into royalty.

As far as "OMG she is Queen of France and she speaks English OMGOMG!!11!" Okay, this is an American retelling with an American audience in mind. Should the duration of it have been spoken in different languages? That's ridiculous.

It was an ok movie. It wasn't the mosthistorically accurate but I guess that they wanted to focus only on her partying and gambeling days.The costumes were great though!!
