Main Hoon Na
There are still too few female directors working within the Bollywood scene, but choreographer Farah Khan swells their ranks with this, her debut feature — a hybrid of political thriller and campus romance. Major Shah Rukh Khan's dying father, played by Naseeruddin Shah, always hoped that his scheme "Mission Milaap" would end the tension between India and Pakistan. However, physics master Sunil Shetty is out to sabotage his plans and so Shah Rukh has to go undercover and return to school. Once there, he not only falls for the daughter of an endangered general, Amrita Rao, but also catches the eye of chemistry teacher Sushmita Sen. This is a proficient star vehicle for Shah Rukh Khan, but the shifts from international espionage to romantic triangle aren't always smooth and it lacks authorial authority.
