Mackenna's GoldPeck is the lucky sheriff with the map pointing to the location of gold treasure trove, but a bunch of dial-a-celebrities are determined to get there first. Entertaining gold-fever fun, which never looks less than contrived. Yet the constant double-crossing is perversely intriguing, and while the director, the scriptwriter and most of the cast don't seem to take the film seriously for an instant, MacKenna's Gold is compulsively watchable.
