In Las Vegas, Huck Cheever is a poker player, brilliant but also prone to let emotion take over. It's the week of the poker world series, and Huck must come up with the $10,000 entry fee, which he wins, loses, borrows, and loses - and even steals part of from Billie Offer, an earnest young woman who's new in town and who catches Huck's eye. By the time the tournament starts, Huck owes everyone. Complicating things is the arrival of Huck's father, whom Huck detests for having left his mother, a champion player in town to win. Can Huck learn to play poker the way he lives and to live the way he... plays poker? Or is his only flush the sound of his life going down the toilet?

After several delayed release dates, Warner Bros. finally lays down its cards with Lucky You, and it's a weak hand. Set around the 2003 World Series of Poker, the pic spends so much time at the tables that director Curtis Hanson fails to do much else -- beginning with establishing a personality for star Eric Bana or developing his relationship with Drew Barrymore. Despite departing from certain expectations inherent in a sports/gambling movie, the result is dull and lifeless, and, while launching opposite Spider-Man 3 might charitably be called counterprogramming, the view from the gallery suggests the studio is folding early.
Lucky You starts off promisingly, then grows as lifeless as a poker face.
You find yourself wanting to like the film, mostly because of its intriguing cast and clever, sharply written opening sequence, when a fast-talking Eric Bana tries to persuade a pawnbroker to take his camera - even though she already has three. It turns out to be the highlight of the film.
Bana is excellent as Huck (short for Huckleberry), a slick Vegas card shark who wins (and blows) money with ease. He's not a loser, but he's clearly a lost soul. His days are spent drifting through casinos, picking up games and women with equal doses of swagger. But he's missing any sense o...

Good movie, good characters, absolutaly working video source!
If you read this comment to decide either watch or not, here is the my suggestion; If you would like to have a good time and have already watch many movies in this website, you should watch this movie! You will enjoy!
Am I the only one? I love Barrymore..most off her movies are so great! But this movie..I just can't get through.. too boring. The beginning is just with this guy (what's his name?). He's not a strong actor, not charismatic at all and he cannot carry the scenes by himself. Sure he's good looking, but that's not enough.. He totally depends on strong actors or actresses like Barrymore or Downey Jr.. Otherwise it's just a horrible movie to watch. If I would be the casting director for this movie: I would not choose him!!
Pleasantly Surprised. I didn't expect much from this movie, even though I'm a big Drew Barrymore fan. My low expections may be why I liked it so much, it it is definitely worth the watch.
