Lonely Are the BraveWestern idealism meets the modern world in this intelligent Western which benefits from its cracking cast (headed by Douglas and Matthau). Douglas stars as Jack Burns, who allows himself to be thrown in prison in order to allow his best friend to walk free, but when the latter decides he'd rather stay behind bars Burns has to go to extreme lengths to escape his incarceration. It's pretty gloomy stuff, but strong performances and some heavy symbolism help it along. |
