NYPD Detective John McClane lives in Brooklyn, and he's now divorced from Holly Gennero, who lives in San Francisco. John has faced some brutal terrorists in his career, but now, he's about to face what may be his most dangerous enemy yet. John, who occasionally does jobs for the United States Department of Homeland Security, receives a call to bring in a hacker named Matt Farrell, because there has been a breach in an FBI computer system. Farrell is one of the many hackers who are suspected in the attack, and all known hackers are to be questioned. But after John gets to Matt's apartment, a ... group of men show up and try to kill John and Matt, who barely escape with their lives. As it turns out, a group of terrorists led by Thomas Gabriel are systematically shutting down the United States computer infrastructure. They crash the stock market, crippling America's economy. It turns out that Matt knows enough about hacking to know exactly how Gabriel is shutting down the USA. Gabriel, a disgraced former Department of Defense employee, plans to bring the country to its knees, but he doesn't count on John and Matt figuring out what's going on. Gabriel wants John and Matt out of the way, and for John, the situation becomes personal when an enraged Gabriel kidnaps John's daughter Lucy, who is a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Gabriel may think he now has the upper hand on John, but he has no idea how far John is willing to go to rescue Lucy.

For an action movie to stand the test of time it has to have something watchable in it, and after enjoying 1,2 and 3 in quick sucession before viewing this, we were not dissapointed with the previous encounters, or ineed this one.
Bang up to date, our one man army McClane is in the thick of it once again by being in the wrong (or right) place at the wrong (or right) time.
Its an all action gamble of a movie that takes all the right turns and does everything you would want it to. The whole collection of these are deserved cinema hits, and this is no exception, a must watch for any action fans, in fact any fans of the big screen.
It's the Luddite versus the techies in Live Free or Die Hard, and guess who wins. Back for a fourth round after a decade on the sequel sidelines, Bruce Willis enthusiastically resurrects resourceful working-class cop John McClane as the unlikely opponent of computer creeps bent on bringing down a digital-dependent nation. Tone careens madly from serious peril to action camp and everything in between, but the sheer quantity of often outrageous stunts should help overcome franchise mustiness to entertain general auds and rack up solid returns here and abroad.

Perfect blend of old school Bruce and modern computer technology. The action was fantastic, especially with the F35! Nice cameo from Colin Smith. 8/10.
After viewing Die Hard 1, 2 and 3 I thought they couldn't make a better picture to obscure the rest. I was wrong. This is the one of the best, second only to Die Hard 1. Bruce Willis, Timothy Olyphant Justine Long, and Maggie 0 were awesome playing their roles.
The contrast between the old fashion cop and the geeky teen was fun to watch. The sporadic jokes were very entertaining as well. I fully recommend this movie to anyone. I could even buy the CD.
As all of the other Die Hard movies this movie is awesome. Bruce Willis is such a BAMF! Awesome action, and Bruce Willis one liners. Justin Long was enjoyable as well. As well as the chick who played MCclane's daughter Lucy(very hot) :D
I suggest watching version #6. It loads quick and it's crystal clear.
One of my all time favorite action movies. I remember seeing this in theaters. Was jam packed from beginning to end. And what made it even greater was that it was funny also, adding Justin as comic relief was great. 5/5
