In Manhattan, the 10 ? years old Gabe finds his first love when he meets his former kindergarten mate, the eleven years old Rosemary, in his karate classes. The magical touch required to construct a romantic comedy around a 10-year-old boy's first love is simply beyond this puzzling ode to Manhattan tourism. Resting almost entirely on the shoulders of its young leads, both they and the pic lack the sparkle to sustain what seeks to be a whimsical premise but, except for a few moments, proves ponderous instead. Premiering in New York before a broader release next month, theatrical playdates should be brief before pic bicycles off to youth-targeting basic-cable networks, which is where Little Manhattan belonged in the first place.

Brought back so many memories, really a feel good movie. The city is as much a character as the kids are - really made me love New York even more than I do now!
"Nothing's as big as your first love," reads the tagline of this romantic comedy: not even the towering buildings of Manhattan that dwarf young protagonist Gabe (Hutcherson). Scootering around his own Little Manhattan - the 10 blocks around his home - 11-year-old Gabe is in pursuit of one thing only: his schoolmate and karate partner Rosemary Telesco (Ray). As the only slightly older, but very much wiser Gabe narrates, we watch him stunned by the first flushes of romance: he used to think girls gave him "cooties", after all. But Gabe can't possibly tell his friends he likes a girl, and he'd do anything to keep it from his parents.

very cute movie. i think its silly when people say things like it was unrealistic. honestly, movies are never really realistic. they are a dream, and this was a good one.
this is the cuutest movie i have ever seen in my whole entire life!! the two only thing that could have been better were they should have been cuter together and that the ending SUCKS!!
I doubt this sort of thing happens very often, lol. Good movie though, couldn't stop laughing at the stuff the kid said when he was commenting on things as they happened.
