	Storyline:	An old man dies. Looking through his papers, his grand-daughter realises that he had fought in the Spanish Civil War. But the idealism of David and his friends was tested to its limit as their comrades were killed and the alliance disintegrated. The old man is buried. Was his struggle in vain?

Not many movies have been made about the Spanish Revolution days and this is surely one of the best, a classic. Although a fair amount of Spanish is spoken in it ( as well as English) you don't need to speak Spanish to understand what's going on. It's a simple tale but it reflects the deep feelings, thoughts and idealism of people searching and fighting for a fair and just world. Hopefully such people still exist in these modern generations.

Undoubtedly one of the best movies I have ever seen .. a must see!

This incredible cinematic endeavor is Ken Loach at his very best. It is very similar to George Orwell's masterpiece "Hommage to Catalonia" and (fun fact): many of the old villagers were members of the poum and fought in the war.

Funny, tragic, accurate .. this really is a must see .. 10 out of 10
