Inherit the Wind
An all-star line-up, including Jack Lemmon, George C Scott, Piper Laurie and Beau Bridges, make this drama about the famous 1925 "Monkey Trial" compelling viewing. A schoolteacher — derided for expounding Darwinian theory — is arrested and tried in a case that soon generates national interest. A stocky courtroom drama ensues and forms the bulk of what was originally a stage play of the same name. Attention to 1920s period detail and heavyweight performances make this a way-above-average, made-for-television drama.
