It’s World War II, the Ardennes mountains. During a bombing, five no-good soldiers headed to military prison for a variety of transgressions ranging from murder to desertion get a chance to escape when their convoy is attacked. They decide to make for Switzerland and freedom, now as fugitives on the run from both the Americans and the Germans, their only hope of escape in the barrel of a gun.
After mistakenly killing a group of American agents disguised as a German patrol, the party is caught by the French resistance, who give them a last chance at redemption by forcing them to carry ou... t an impossible mission, to sneak into the most heavily guarded Nazi fortress, steal their most precious weapon and return it to the Allies undetected.

looking good
this looks like a very good film and i can see it doing very well. it is a war film and its well worthe watching the traler it is shaping up to be better than saving privat ryan(worth watching).
This may just be his masterpiece
First things first - if you can't tolerate a clearly tongue-in-cheek rewriting of European history or a fairly high level of graphic violence, then this isn't for you.
That said, this is Tarantino's most accessible movie to date, so give it a chance and you might be surprised. It's also perhaps his most coherent, restrained film to date, and in that respect he's returned to the days of Pulp
Fiction and Reservoir Dogs in expertly crafting a piece of pure cinema that never fails to entertain.
The acting, as always, is top notch. Most of the kudos will go to Christoph Waltz' portrayal of SS 'Jew Hunter' Hans Landa, who most definitely steal...
Here are a few of my not-favorite things: scalps graphically removed, throats savagely slashed, heads brutally beaten by baseball bats, necks forcibly strangled, fingers sadistically twisted in open wounds. The ideal person to be reviewing Quentin Tarantino's violent World War II fantasia, Inglourious Basterds, I am not, but as the Basterds knew all too well, sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. Not that there aren't elements to savor in Basterds or, for that matter, in Tarantino's public persona. He has a huge enthusiasm for movies of all kinds -- who else is going to champion the Roy Rogers films of William Witney -- and, judging by his public app...

flawless. amazing film by tarantino. glad i didnt see it in theaters though cuz of how many times i had to rewind to catch up on subtitles or re listen to brad pitt's cheesy accent XD
Loved this flick..it was really well done , great actors (Brad Pitt only has a small role thank god) and I have to say the "Bear jew" my all time fav character! Batter up!!4/5
What an unusual story! I would personally describe this as "dark humor" and I happen to like dark humor. I could throw in a few little criticisms but in the end my recommendation would be WATCH THIS (if you like dark comedy). But wait till the kids go to bed.
Tarentino's movies are always great if you like crude and dark humor. I liked it more then I thought I would have. The only parts that didn;t appeal to me were [SPOILER]
the shaving of the scalps and the ending where he engraved the swastica onto the Nazi's head, but that's only because I have a weak stomach when it comes to realistic bloody scenes. I especially loved the alternative to Hitlers demise.
There are a lot of reasons to watch and enjoy this film but Christoph Waltz imo is the def right up at the top. his effortless flow of his dialouge and his gestures are just so smooth and natural, its really something to enjoy.
And of course this is truly a QT film, that ive come to accept has to have multiple close ups of a womans foot no matter what the situation. and or a reference of Black ppl and or culture. hes obessed with both, even in a ww2 film he still manages to find a time for both. i dont get it but he does i guess.
A good watch. I realy enjoied the acting especialy the SS comander did a exellent job. I recomend this movie. And for all of you who say that history was revritten and are mad aboute it.. Your all a buntch of loonies. I meen its a movie, everibody knows its all lies. But they are fun lies and thats what makes it so interresting. I give it a 8/10 and my congratulations to Quentin Tarantino for another awsome movie.
"Brad Pitt" is awesome i really enjoyed this movie the concept and outcome was simply brilliant “it’s intelligent and masterful” highly recommended” 5/5
not a big quentin tarantino fan, i only like pulp fiction and both kill bill films. the reason is that his movies have a lot of nothing to do with the story chatter. reservoir dogs is a perfect example of needless stupid chatter. really the only reason to see this crappy film is to see how awesome christoph waltz's acting is. only reason i will have it at average. 2 of 4 stars average.
I LOVE Quinten Tarantino..this movie was no exception. it may not have been "historically correct", but it was what i expect from his movies. 5/5 stars!!
everyone that knows the history of hitler knows that the ending isn't trust however it made for good tv! views whom know of his doings will get a sight to see of what could have possibly happened. all characters were played very will.
YES Hitler was at a theater that was demolished from a military ambush NO he did not die, he jumped out the window, my grandpa told me the story, he was a cook for the army, look at a few history books and you'll see pictures of him in a wheelchair with a broken leg from the event.
