Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
The second in the Indiana Jones series, but a prequel to Raiders Of The Lost Ark. The shamelessly thin plot sees the behatted hero taking on a Thuggee cult
Prequel in the adventure series which has hero Indy (Ford) on the trail of a precious jewel, rescuing some kidnapped Indian boys and going great guns down a river at breakneck speed. Aiming to outdo the scary moments in Raiders, this relies, unsurprisingly, on spectacle and effect. The British censors, however, in their efforts to tone down the unremitting violence, made this one of the most heavily cut films of the 1980s. Verdict Fantastically choreographed action sequences and gloriously overdone visual devices make up for the shameless lack of plot. |
