A Christmas story. Should one who killed a child be allowed to live? Harry Waters, a London thug, sends Irish hitmen Ken and Ray to Bruges to lie low after a job goes awry in a London church. Ken's the old hand, fascinated by the Medieval, with a fatherly attitude toward Ray, who's young and bored but chastened after the London job. Ray's disposition changes when he meets Chlo?, a hip young woman who sells drugs on the local set of a movie featuring Jimmy, an American dwarf. Harry calls with irrevocable instructions. Ken balks, setting up a showdown in the town square. A pregnant innkeeper, d... umdum bullets, and a code of conduct play into the resolution.

Martin McDonagh benches the bolder, brasher side of his dramatic writing skills and tries his hand at genre and plot in his highly erratic filmmaking debut, In Bruges. Closer to pics like The Hit and Miller???s Crossing than to McDonagh???s bristling, funny plays, this half-comic, half-serious account of two Irish hitmen who are sent to the titular Belgian burg to cool their heels after a job is moderately fair as a nutty character study, but overly far-fetched once the action kicks in. After pic???s Sundance opener spotlight, Focus should expect generally indifferent critical and aud response during February rollout.

In Bruges
Ken, a hitman with history, and new-to-the-profession Ray are sent to Bruges by their boss after Ray's bullets claim an innocent victim. Playwright Martin McDonagh's thriller, starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes
Martin McDonagh is famous for ultra-violent plays that are as fashionable as they are bloody. His theatrical work is often called 'subversive' and for his first feature the director plays around with some populist presumptions, such as Bruges being boring and professional killing being a glamorous lifestyle choice.
The dialogue is laugh-out-loud funny and it will be pigeon-holed enthusiastically as a black comedy, although this definitio...
In Bruges stands out boldly (and blessedly) from the rubbish and wan comedies released in February.
It is easily one of the best debut feature films in recent memory. The notion of a pair of hit men cooling their heels as they're forced to play tourist in a picture-postcard town is clever enough. But as the story unspools, it grows more intriguing.
Martin McDonagh, an Irish playwright who won the Oscar for his short film Six Shooter, reveals immense talent as a writer/director with his first full-length film. A Sundance favorite, In Bruges is an original, offbeat and darkly comical caper film that twists and turns in compelling and unpredictable w...

This movie is probably different than most you have ever seen. I personally liked it a lot. The scenery and people of Belgium are wonderful. My brother travels to Belgium several times a year on business. I had been told by one of my old air force buddies Belgium was not that great. My younger brother says it is fantastic. If it is anything like the movie..it must be really nice. I give the movie an 8.5 out of a 10.
