Hey, well this is one helluva tearjerker but a very sweet movie indeed. When it first came out in 1978, back then it wouldn't have been my thing at all; nowadays I'm much more partial to such a poignant story of triumph of human spirit over adversity. I just noticed there's a remake of "Ice Castles" that recently came out..why do they have to remake good old films, they so seldom improve on the original, same as when someone makes a new version of an old hit song..never as good but more to the point, never better. Why make a new version unless it's actually going to be an improvement? Beats me. Anyway, Lynn Holly Johnson here is fantastic as Lexie with Robby Benson as her boyfriend Nick and Tom Skerrit as her Dad. Great movie with lovely score from Marvin Hamlysch and some good skating routines, really enjoyed it, 4.3/5. It is a little dated one has to say and possibly slightly too sentimental but worth watching. I haven't seen the new version yet but will report back as soon as. Love
