Hidden AgendaThis controversial movie makes interesting viewing now. Loach assembled a good cast and directed with assurance, from a screenplay by Allen that is defiantly anti-British in depicting the Northern Ireland 'problem'.Part based on known facts, it follows the killing of a civil rights lawyer (Dourif) at a roadblock. A senior British policeman (Cox) is sent to investigate, only to find that a cover-up exists and that it implicates high-up politicians who want to save the face of the RUC. Equally controversial is the posited notion of Secret Service undermining of Heath and Wilson. Heady stuff, Loach's film won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival but only received a limited release in the UK.
